Going into this class at the beginning of the trimester I was very excited about the idea of photography and the creative elements of it. I started of getting an understanding of it and knowing the meanings of everything but struggling to transfer it into practice. I understood composition and its importance and how to apply it to the photographs. I did struggle with lighting at first and it took a while for me to learn how to properly learn lighting. I was in all most proud of my last two photo assignments which were Nature and Architecture. When it came to photoshop I had already had a fair understanding of it because of my work in Graphic Communications, I learned a lot more in this class about things that I didn't even know you could do. I enjoyed working with photoshop and worked with it as often as I could. Below are pictures from my first photo assignment and my last photo assignment.

During this assignment we worked with the shutter speed as a priority while creating motion using a subject. The subject was Mr. Bush on a Bicycle riding past us as we took pictures.
This was an assignment that involved us taking multiple different photos of ourselves and turning them into one image. We were working with image masks and combining layers through them. It was very important in this project to include the shadows in the image to give it a realistic effect. Overall it was a good learning experience in how to combine images manually.
In this assignment I worked with Architecture and focused on angles and depth. I was trying to get a nice depth of field to further bring out edges and details of these buildings. I really enjoyed going to the new and old law schools at U of M, I also visited the sports complex at U of M. This Picture was taken with an aperture of f/8.0 and a shutter speed of 1/125. It also has an ISO of 400.
In this assignment we worked with two different types of portraits, the Window-Light portrait and the Studio Portrait. We went throughout the school working with the light and the angles and capturing the image requirements for each. Then we bordered each into one picture to create the final product.
For this assignment I was to create a planet and space like environment from nothing but a black screen. This assignment was somewhat difficult because it was made by a person who speaks German and it was a little broken in translation. Overall I enjoyed the project because I liked creating a Space World. http://www.fxencore.de/tutorial_detail/photoshop-tutorials/bildmanipulation/space-environment/
For this assignment I decided that it was time to do an assignment outside. I took my camera out and decided to get nature pictures with a Macro feel to it. I worked mostly with trees and their bark. I also worked with the plants that were sprouting. I learned more about using the sun as a light source and which angles work the best with that light source. This photo was taken with an aperture of f/2.8, a shutter speed of 1/15 and an ISO of 100. I adjusted the clarity and the contrast in this photo.
This assignment was another installment in the photoshop assignments and works with taking multiple images and putting it into one image. I liked this assignment because it creates a cool fisheye after effect that adds to images that may not have been very special. I learned that depth can really add quite a bit to panoramic images. In one image the hallway seems nearly endless because the depth was conveyed through photoshop.
For my Photo-assignment #5 I decided to do the project of light-painting due to the recent demo that was done for light painting. I liked this project because it was a very creative based assignment. One issue is that each image is very time consuming and often needs more than one person. I really learned the significance this week of the term time is money. I had a limited amount of time this week and it taught me the importance of that phrase. The photo above was taken with an aperture of f/4.5 and a shutter speed of 30.0 seconds. It was also taken with an ISO of 100. I made edits to this image with the highlights and contrast to really emphasis the light and show the depth.
During this assignment for black and white I took images that might create contrast with dark and light colors. I learned in this assignment that I need to try shooting from a new environment. While the pictures did not turn out poor, they also dd not turn out the way I would like them to. This photo was taken with an aperture of f/3.0, a shutter speed of 1.0 and an ISO of 80.
